Christmas cards

Here is a selection of Christmas cards we made this year

First creation I made with Christopher that we sent to Scotland:
Popped the presents up on 3D pads
6 others work in progress:
6 others finished:
Christopher had so much fun making these.
We also made snowman cards:

Then I made a few simple photo cards, these were the designs:

The photos were the most important part of these cards, I kept them simple and made them so the photos can be removed.
This was a last minute card made very late on christmas eve to put a gift voucher in after we lost the card it was supposed to go in. Lol.

Christmas Giant Cupcake

Here is my Christmas giant cupcake creation. Not for anyone other than us :o)

Started off with a giant cupcake trimmed:

I put buttercream in the middle of the 2 layers and then covered the rest in buttercream:

I then surrounded the bottom with chocolate fingers and secured it with some ribbon, it needed a box and a half worth of chocolate fingers.

I then piped the buttercream using my Wilton 1M nozzle, used yellow smarties, some dr oetker soft pearls and a giant chocolate star to decorate :o)

This should satisfy my craving for cake :o)

36 weeks

Here is my bump pic taken on Monday when I turned 36 weeks.

From above:

33 week bump and pregnancy update

This pregnancy really is going way to fast, our baby girl is due in little over 6 weeks now, so in little over 3 weeks she will be full term!!! Eeeeekk!
I remember my son's pregnancy dragging but my goodness would I like this to slow down now. We have so much that needs doing before she arrives so hopefully we can get most of it sorted in the next couple of weeks before Christmas.
Here is my 33 week bump pic:

I can't believe this pregnancy is going soooo quickly!! I'd like it to slow down now!

My friends wedding gift and card

This is the frame that I made for my best friends wedding gift. Their song is Angels by Robbie Williams so I wanted to do something with that, especially as it was their first dance song too.
The frame is a box frame:
The paper is embossed and the angels are made of wood
 Close up of the details:
This is the wedding card that I made for them.

The frame and the card together

I hope that they like the gift, they didn't have a wedding list and asked for money/vouchers but I wanted to give them a little something special to open to remember their day too. I don't think they have opened it yet as they have gone off on a mini-moon for the weekend. They aren't going on a honeymoon until Christmas time due to the bride being a teacher and not being able to have any time off until holiday time.

Eeeekkk! Its going sooooo fast!!!

Lightning McQueen Cake

I started with making a 10 inch square cake ready to carve:
Inspiration:

I asked Christopher which decoration he wanted on the cake and he chose the Rust-eze logo over the piston cup.

Getting the shape right for the body, I drew it out on paper and then cut it out to use as a template:
Body cut out and the front slightly rounded off:
Shape from above:
Figuring out if the top is the right shape:
Building up the shape with the top, the headlights and the back spoiler:
Covered in buttercream/crumb coating:
First lot of fondant:
This was NOT my friend!!! This stupid stuff cracked when I put it on the cake!
I had to pull it off and redo some more fondant:

This pic always makes me think - I've murdered the cake! Lol.
2nd lot of fondant all coloured:
It worked!!! THANK GOD!! I did not want to have to do it for a 3rd time
All brushed down and the icing sugar rubbed off as much as possible
Decoration time. All hand cut. I drew these out on paper first (with the exception of the 95's which I cut out freehand) to check that they would be the right size for the cake and then cut them all out
Circle cut out using my biscuit cutter set and then handwritten Rust-eze
Eyes:
Finished Cake!!!
All finished with a plaque with his name on ready for his party
This was the hardest cake that I have ever made but I am soooo pleased with how it turned out. It was what Christopher asked for when I asked him what he wanted and he absolutely loved it, he wanted to touch it and stroke it as soon as he saw it.
